What am I building?

Pick the route first. It decides which files you export, and which of them end up inside the finished wing.

Printed wing

STL is the full outer wing. The print kit adds aligned shell, infill-core and optional rod-wall bodies for slicer preparation. These all stay in the wing. They are not pre-split bed-sized sections.

Core with skins

Core STEP is inset for the specified skin and bondline. The core stays inside a composite wing. Wrapping the full outer-wing STL or print kit adds thickness outside the designed surface; it does not reserve composite skin space.

Molded composite

Mold STEP files are female upper/lower tools. Prepare them by machining, or convert to mesh and plan a printed tool process. Place skins and core inside, cure, then remove the tooling. Mold tooling does not stay in the wing.

The sequence

  1. Choose the route, materials, process and reinforcement. Confirm skin and bondline allowances against the actual laminate.
  2. Check preflight, export, and prepare CAM or the slicer. Geometry uses millimeters: X chordwise, Y spanwise, Z thickness. Printer orientation and supports are still your choice.
  3. If the part exceeds the bed or stock, design the splits, alignment and structural joints. Automatic sectioning, joint sizing and glue-up instructions are not supplied.
  4. Build, join, cure and finish using a reviewed process. Measure the finished part and validate its structure before riding.

The diagram is schematic. These are design files, not a physically validated construction recipe. The construction guide has the full sequence and the evidence checklist.
