Each station defines a foil section at a specific spanwise position. Sections blend smoothly between neighbours. Root and tip are anchors at 0% and 100% of the half-span; add stations between them to refine the spanwise foil distribution.
The Sections page has the foil catalog: search it, compare polars, or upload a .dat file of your own. Back in the designer, the Sections tab applies your pick along the span.
A .dat file loads as coordinates, which carry no polars. If catalog foils match its shape, WingHopper offers them, and they come with polars. If nothing matches, it can rebuild the file as a smooth curve that follows your points closely, which gives you a clean section to shape with; it still has no polars, because only a catalog foil carries those. You can always keep your coordinates as they are.
Flips every foil section upside-down (upper ↔ lower), which is how a stabilizer runs. Applies to the 3D view, the section preview, exports, and the flow solvers.
