Size

The Size tab sets the wing's overall dimensions. Each slider edits the planform curves behind it, so the outline keeps its character as it resizes.

Span

Full tip-to-tip span, including the rounded tips. Changing it stretches the wing spanwise only: chords, sweep and the chordwise shape of the curves stay as they are.

Chord

Slides the whole trailing edge fore and aft, deepening or shallowing the wing without changing its outline. The leading edge stays put. Shown as the mean chord; measured with a 15 mm slide.

Root chord

Chord at the wing root. The leading edge is the datum, so this moves the trailing edge's root point.

Tip chord

Chord at the wing tip: moves the trailing edge's tip point. The rounded tip scales with it, so span moves a little too.

Sweep

How far the tip's leading edge sits behind the root's. The control moves the tip end of both edge curves together, and the curves between reshape with them, which is why area changes a little.

TE thickness

Trailing-edge thickness. 0 is a sharp trailing edge; above 0 blunts it. The lift and drag models here do not see trailing-edge thickness, so only volume and stiffness move.

Scaling

The Scaling panel over the viewport resizes the whole wing to a target area, span or aspect ratio while holding something constant:

• Aspect ratio: span and chords scale together; dihedral, the dihedral curve's heights and TE thickness stay put.
• Area: the chords shrink as the span grows, or grow as it shrinks, so area holds.
• Proportions: a uniform scale of the whole wing, verticals included. The way to make micro or giant versions of a design.
